For the fifth time at the 86th Hahnenkamm Race in January 2026, not only the most spectacular, fastest and legendary Downhill Race of the World Cup will take place, but also the party that pays tribute to the greatest, fearless and most successful Ski Racers. Inspiration
Award

The Inspiration Award honors former athletes who are celebrated internationally and excel on the snow with outstanding performances, but above all, serve as an inspiration for achievements outside of sport and meet the Awards values. There is no better time to honor ski racers with the Inspiration Award than during the legendary Hahnenkamm Race.

Community
Award

In 2024, the Community Award was presented for the first time. It honors individuals who work behind the scenes and are recognized for their dedication and expertise. The award went to Edi Unterberger, a service technician for legends like Marcel Hirscher and Hermann Maier. Considered one of the best and most experienced technicians in the ski industry, he was honored with the award for his tireless work behind the scenes. In the second year, the award went to the "Rutschkommando" of the Hahnenkamm Race. These volunteers ensure, with tireless effort, that the course remains optimally prepared even after countless runs by evenly distributing snow and eliminating dangerous irregularities.

Nomination
Process

The Kitz Legends Night Committee, in close collaboration with the active sport community, nominates up to 20 former ski racers (male & female) who have demonstrated exceptional qualities in line with the award values.

At the committee kick-off, the committee initiates an inclusive process involving an internal voting and discussion to select the award winners. This democratic approach ensures that all nominations are thoroughly considered, resulting in the selection of two deserving winners.

Once the winners have been chosen, they will be contacted by the committee to accept the award and confirm the attendance at the event.

The winners of the awards will be invited as guests of honour to receive the awards during Kitz Legends Night and to spend a few incredible days in Kitzbühel enjoying the full Hahnenkamm experience.

Franz Klammer is among the most successful alpine ski racers in history and shaped downhill racing for many years. With a total of 26 World Cup victories—25 of them in downhill—and five discipline titles in the downhill World Cup, he is a legend of the sport. He was also named Austria’s Sportsman of the Year four times—an inspiration to skiers worldwide because, with his daring style, unwavering determination, and ability to deliver extraordinary performances under immense pressure, he showed what is possible in alpine skiing.
